New Audition Rules: What Performers Need to Know

Performers voiced their concerns to us over the pandemic about onerous expectations for self-tape auditions. ACTRA was successful in negotiating some improvements to audition requirements in the latest IPA, and here are some of the highlights:

  1. Sides should be received 24-48 hours in advance. (Increased from 24 hours, A2808)
  2. Sides must be either no more than eight pages or two scenes for a first self-tape, at the election of the Producer. (A2801)
  3. No elaborate camera work, costumes, hair or make-up is required of the Performer. (A2810)
  4. You can request feedback in advance of an Audition recall. (A2810)

If you got insufficient notice or received too many pages, please report the infraction using this form. We can’t fix it if we don’t know about it. Thanks!
